Dwight Howard could improve Charlotte’s jersey sales… and more!

 

After spending his first eight years with the Orlando Magic, Dwight Howard will now play for his fifth team in the last seven years.

The Daily Double struggled to get past his “locker room cancer” tag especially during the 2017 NBA Playoffs. Atlanta lost to Washington – which marked the first time the Hawks failed to get past the opening round since 2014. Moreover, Mike Budenholzer gave Howard a limited role – prompting D12 to bitch and moan his way out of his hometown.

So I guess Michael Jordan wants pain in his doorsteps when he traded for Howard. I think I get what Jordan is thinking. Let it be known that Jordan flourished under Phil Jackson and once shared court time with Dennis Rodman. Also, the Charlotte Hornets acquired Howard for mid-level acquisitions like Miles Plumlee and Marco Belinelli. The Hornets and Hawks also swapped second round picks.

More than cap space, I guess the Hawks are in need to locker room cleansing with regards to this move. It’s obvious that the management wants to assemble a team sans the drama.

But this is good move for Charlotte. Apart from his disruptive issues, Dwight Howard is a talent worth owning. He may not score as much but his rebounding capabilities are uncanny. Kemba Walker needs all the help to propel his game to the next level and Jordan needs a high profile teammate to improve the Hornets’ merch. I know Charlotte is shooting for a possible playoff spot and once upon a time Steve Clifford and Howard teamed up to lead Orlando to the franchise’s second Finals appearance.
