HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I don’t know what the Kia Picanto team is thinking.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
So with the first pick overall of the 2017 PBA Draft, the Kia Picanto convinced their brains that trading the rights to nab Christian Standhardinger for Jay-R Reyes, Keith Agovida, and Rashawn McCarthy is a good thing.
Hmmm…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I will stop now.
As per Spin, Kia struck this deal with San Miguel to send their pick for a trio of benchies.
I hope the PBA office rejects the offer. This sucks… really, really sucks. Why would Kia even consider this deal? McCarthy is a talent destroyed by the San Miguel machine. He is in his late 20s and the former ABL veteran is nowhere near the gameplay of Maverick Ahanmisi… much less, Jerramy King. Keith Agovida is a talent that barely saw action for the Beermen. Jay-R Reyes? Look he’s solid… but he is past his prime. TNT offered Aldrech Ramos, KG Canaleta, and Rob Reyes for Troy Rosario. MVP had to haggle his teams to produce a fair trade that gave the franchise a semblance of a winning year.
I am sorry for messing with these players but it’s ridiculous that a cast of seldom-used players are enough to obtain the rights of a possible game changer!
Another reason? Whatever crap they unloaded on Arnold Van Opstal’s rookie season! AVO had promise! AVO is a center that Leo Austria could use in case June Mar Fajardo or Arwind Santos get hurt. More importantly, they asked for AVO so they can teach him the basics because he will also represent the country.
San Miguel just trashed Van Opstal!
So can you trust the Beermen to groom a rookie of his calibre? I know San Miguel can use or not use a contracted player but this is a special round pick for crying out loud.
And what if he doesn’t get his minutes?
I get that Kia’s Chris Gavina will have a hard time coaching Standhardinger but what about Leo Austria and his Slam Dunk-like rotation? Austria can accomplish this during the Philippine Cup but it’s either him or June Mar Fajardo who’s going to get benched during the import-laden tilts. Standhardinger is an old rookie and he wants the recognition as fast as possible.
But why are we just resting on the possibility of Standhardinger?
If Gilas has Isaiah Austin as their potential naturalized import, then having Standhardinger is merely having a backup. I think the greatest asset of this draft is Kiefer Ravena and I think SMC wants him bad. Ravena can be the heir apparent to Alex Cabagnot just like the latter was to Olsen Racela a few years back. Cabagnot is about to turn 35 this December and I can see this as a reason to outmanoeuvre the NLEX pick.
With that said, if San Miguel wants to get the top pick, the Beermen need to make a fair trade. I can’t see the league office accepting this trade without shadiness. Accepting this is a slap in the face of every lopsided trade the league accepted through the years.
Move over Jay Washington and Macmac Cardona for Mark Telan and Patrick Fran… because here’s this shitty deal!
Kia had Reden Celda digging deep and making a name for himself but with the exception of LA Revilla and I guess Russel Escoto, I can’t see the squad owning any assets. Maybe Kia needs to give their franchise to a company with a winning drive.
With the way they do their business, I just can’t see Kia owning a winning season.
